RECRUITING PHILOSOPHY

Hale Lane seeks individuals who will bring diversity, integrity, creativity, maturity, good judgment and intellectual capability to the firm. These characteristics may be illustrated by academic achievement, prior work experience, law review or law journal editorships, clerkships and other evidence of talent and accomplishments.

RECRUITING

Hale Lane occasionally participates in on-campus interviewing and job fairs in the Western U.S. In addition, the firm welcomes resumes from graduating students and practicing attorneys with strong academic credentials and an entrepreneurial drive.

ASSOCIATE MENTORING PROGRAM

Each Hale Lane associate is paired with a shareholder mentor, who serves as an advisor. Our mentoring program provides guidance to associates in career development and assistance with specific work-product issues.

ASSOCIATE TRAINING

To ensure that associates approach their responsibilities both competently and confidently, the firm provides and continues to develop and modify its training and development program. The firm offers all new associates training in the form of a broad-based practical core curriculum of business and professional topics. Also, each practice group within the firm presents informal programs ranging from instructional primers to updates for all attorneys on the latest legal developments. The firm maintains an "open door" atmosphere and encourages associates to take advantage of the wealth of experience present in the firm. The firm conducts regular associate luncheon meetings within each practice group; bi-monthly associate information meetings are held with the Managing Shareholder to discuss agenda items from Board of Directors meetings, firm finances, issues raised by associates and other items of interest. The firm holds an annual off-premises weekend retreat for all lawyers (with spouses or significant others), featuring two formal and social sessions, and an annual business meeting, focused on practice management issues, for all lawyers and paralegals.

SUMMER ASSOCIATE PROGRAM

Hale Lane's summer program typically includes two to three summer associates each year. As with full time associates, summer associates are assigned a mentor to assist in the distribution of work and provide practical advice on assignments.
